MNK’s Case Proves Ex-Nigeria a Country of No Direction — Biafrans, Fund Our Exit and Liberation

MNK’s Case Proves Ex-Nigeria a Country of No Direction — Biafrans, Fund Our Exit and Liberation

Distinguished members of the international community, human-rights advocates, and representatives of free nations,

A media briefing that will resonate across both diplomatic and media circles, written by Edidem Unwana, Senior Correspondent on Political Matters at BRGIE Newsline, declaring that the ongoing detention and trial of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu (MNK) reveal “a nation that has lost direction and moral purpose.”

"I write today not in defiance, but in defense — defense of truth, justice, and the right of every people to determine their future in peace."

As we reflect on a case that has become both symbolic and tragic: the continued detention and prosecution of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra. His ordeal exposes the stark reality that the entity still called Nigeria has lost both moral and legal direction.

For over four years, Mazi Kanu has been detained despite multiple court orders mandating his release — including decisions by the ExNigerian Court of Appeal (2022) and the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (UNWGAD, 2022), which ruled his rendition and detention unlawful.

His extraordinary abduction from Kenya and rendition to Nigeria violates Article 9 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), which prohibits arbitrary arrest and detention; Article 12 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, guaranteeing liberty and fair trial; and the principles of international extradition law enshrined in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (1961).

Each adjournment, each delay, and each ignored ruling reveals a deeper crisis — a state no longer bound by its constitution, and a judiciary subdued by executive power. ExNigeria has ceased to function as a democracy in spirit or in practice.

Let it be clear: this is no longer merely a domestic legal issue.

It is a violation of international norms — an affront to the rule of law, to human dignity, and to the very principles of sovereignty that the United Nations Charter (Article 1 § 2) was founded upon: the right of peoples to self-determination.

And so, fellow Biafrans, lovers of freedom and friends of justice, we must draw a sober conclusion: Since the ExNigerian state has failed, then the Biafran people must regain their territory and rebuild their future.

"The time has come for Biafrans to fund our own exit and liberation."

Funding our liberation is not a crime. The failure of ExNigeria provides us the legitimate right to fund for our freedom and for the protection of our people and territory.
It means empowering peace — through diplomacy, advocacy, education, humanitarian relief, and international engagement.
It means supporting legal and diplomatic efforts in Washington DC, and every legitimate venue that upholds justice for the oppressed.

We, the Biafran people, do not seek separation through hatred; we seek restoration through hope. We believe that justice, when denied repeatedly, becomes the seed of freedom.
And Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case is that seed — proof that ExNigeria’s current form is unsustainable, unjust, and unaccountable.

Freedom costs money.
Every revolution has a budget.
If we want Biafra to rise, we must build it with our own hands and fund it with our own sacrifices.

Therefore, let us act — wisely, lawfully, and together.
Let us unite our minds, our resources, and our global networks to fund this peaceful march toward liberation.
The world must see that Biafra’s struggle is not rebellion; it is reclamation — a pursuit of governance built on justice, equity, and the sanctity of human life.

If ExNigeria has lost direction, then Biafra must become the compass of Africa’s moral rebirth.

Let us remember: our forebears in 1967 were outnumbered, blockaded, and abandoned — yet they built an economy, an army, and a dream that terrified tyranny itself.
We are the descendants of those same men and women of courage. We are the generation that must finish what they began — peacefully, intelligently, and decisively.

Therefore, I call upon every Biafran across the world — in America, in Europe, in Asia, in the homeland — to contribute to the cause of liberation.
Let every Eje and Ejemba be the seed of freedom.
Let us fund our diplomacy, our legal representation, our humanitarian relief, and our defense.

The world is watching how we respond.
If MNK’s illegal detention proves Nigeria has lost direction, then our collective action must prove that Biafra has found hers.

This is not the end — it is the beginning of the final phase.
The chains are cracking. The lies are collapsing.
And the spirit of Biafra is rising HIGHER AND HIGHER once again.

Let us stand together. Fund our liberation. Defend our leaders. Restore our nation.

May God bless Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
May God bless the people of Biafra.
And may truth and freedom prevail in our lifetime.
