In a dramatic escalation of rhetoric, the U.S. President Donald J. Trump issued a fiery warning to the Nigerian government, threatening to halt all American aid and consider military action if the “killing of Christians” in Nigeria does not stop immediately.

Posting on Truth Social, President Trump declared that the U.S. “may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities.” He said he had instructed the U.S. Department of War to prepare for possible action, warning the Nigerian government to “move fast.”

A Diplomatic and Strategic Path Forward: The Biafra Alliance Proposal

As tensions rise, a recently released document registered with the U.S. Department of Justice under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) has surfaced — offering a potential path toward regional stability and the end of religious persecution.

The Biafra Republic Government-in-Exile (BRGIE), has formally proposed a landmark alliance with the United States. The proposal includes defense cooperation, counter-terrorism collaboration, and economic partnerships in exchange for U.S. political recognition of Biafra’s independence.

Among the offers, BRGIE is inviting the U.S. to:

• Establish permanent military bases and intelligence listening posts in Biafra,

• Partner on counter-terrorism operations against extremist groups,

• Secure preferential access to critical minerals, oil, and gas concessions, and

• Lead mediation between Nigeria and the Biafra People to end ongoing conflict.

In return, BRGIE amongst other requests, seeks U.S. support for Biafra’s full independence and recognition as a sovereign nation — a move that will “bring lasting stability to West Africa and end the Christian genocide in Nigeria once and for all.”

Strategic Implications for U.S. Policy

Analysts suggest that the proposal could mark a major geopolitical shift, positioning the U.S. as a key stabilizer in the Gulf of Guinea while countering France, Chinese and Russian influence in Africa. By aligning with BRGIE, the U.S. would gain not only economic advantages but also a moral and strategic foothold in combating terrorism and protecting persecuted Christian populations.
